I have been a psychiatric nurse for 15 years, and enjoy reading about the history of psychiatry. I work with patients, who have chronic mental illness, and who have been in the mental health system for many decades. . .some who have been through the same "treatment" Mr. Beers had been through. Clifford Beers wrote his story and became one of the pioneers of mental health advocacy, evolving in the patient rights we have today. It's an interesting story and one worth reading.Product details

A great to read in understanding people and their environmental upbringings.
Excellent book. Give a true picture of mental health conditions in the beginning years. A must read!
Anyone working in Social Services or with people with disabilities should consider this book a must read. It was well written and very interesting. I bought it for use on a college term paper but recommend it as a leisurely read as well.
Good condition
A GREAT ASS AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Y'all this book spans generations in terms of it's ability to succinctly articulate the stigmas around mental illness. This book was written a long ass time ago and it still applies. Very clear writing, very complex thoughts articulated, just so good.
Excellent book which helps so much in personal development mentally I believe. Quickly shipped!
I read the free version of this book. If, like me, you are interested in psychology and history, you will enjoy this book as well. It is interesting to see how the mentally ill were treated in the past and compare to how they are treated now. Somethings have changed and some have not, mainly the stigma of mental illness. In this book, you get to peek inside the mind of a man who suffered from mental illness and found his way back out.
