What clever woman would want a man like Lord Harry Desire? Why, he was clearly a lummox - languid, vain, and bland. Not even his beautiful face could redeem him. But he stood to inherit a vast fortune, and that was good enough for Deirdre's father, a spendthrift vicar who arranged the match to rescue himself from imminent financial collapse. Leave it to Deirdre to contrive an escape, a quick elopement with her one true love, the dashing Guy Wentwater. But Wentwater's love proved none too true, and Deirdre found herself in a humiliating pickle. Not even Lord Harry would marry her now. But Harry had more tricks up his tailored sleeve than Deirdre ever imagined. And soon she pined only for the marriage thrown away, and for a man whose arms had grown suddenly irresistible!

Deirdre and Desire Six Sisters Series Book 3 edition by M C Beaton Romance eBooks
I've read all of the "Six Sister" novels now. They're fun and all have a cast of amusing minor characters. Each of the sisters and their suitors are sufficiently different not to seem too "cookie cutter". I think Lord Harry Desire may the best of the beaux - he's a bit vague and unexpected. All of this series are very Georgette Heyer-ish, but more eccentric. The "House for a Season" series is also very entertaining. The "Travelling Matchmaker" series is the most charming and I love Hannah Pym. "School for Manners" another entertaining series with two wonderful spinster sisters, earning some much needed income "bringing out" difficult debutants.
M.C. Beaton seems to have written an incredible number of novels. She's at her best with eccentricities of character. She even has a series of Edwardian murder mysteries (Lady Rose Summer and Captain Harry Cathcart) which are quite good.
Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth are contemporary creations (at least late 20th century).
All, so far, easy reading and diverting - no great insights but nonetheless pleasant, well-written distractions.

Deirdre and Desire Six Sisters Series Book 3 edition by M C Beaton Romance eBooks Reviews
Fun book to read, interesting to see how life was in the 19th Century. Easy to read and highly entertaining.
This is s really cute series about a family of sisters. What makes the stories unique is that the heroines are all flawed in some way, make mistakes but still find happiness.
MC Beaton has done a good job of studying the fashion and behavior of English society. Descriptions of the mannerisms, dresses, and courtship in Regency England is very well done. The stories themselves are charming. I enjoyed this.
This installment of the 6 Sisters was fabulous. Lord Desire is so delicious. I thought his final confession was so adorable. I was glad to visit with the elder sisters and look forward to the next book. Very well-written as are all of Ms. Beaton' s books. Very highly recommended for all Regency Romance lovers.
I've had the paperback version of this book for years, and was delighted to find it on my shopping app. Enjoyed the book again.
I Chose 3 stars because the 3 stories are all the same. I know the caricatures have to be the same and that makes a good series but the story lines are all the same. The naive sister gets n trouble and the "knight in shining armour" saves her and they live happily ever after.
Luckily I began M.C. Beatons' Six Sisters series at the beginning, with sister number 1, Minerva. Reading Deirdre's story, the third sister of the series, was, in fact, a pleasant and very humorous read. Having read all six books in the series, I think "Deirdre and Desire" was the most funny, due to the other interesting characters introduced in the book.
Deirdre, like her older sisters is flawed. Amazingly, having a reverend for a father, Reverend Armitage (whose character appears in all of the sister's stories) has no bearing on the sisters' flaws. They don't necessarily learn from each other and all go down the same rocky path to HEA.
All in all, Deirdre's story was one of the most memorable of the series.
